Jenny & Jamez 7/17/2010

Being my first wedding I shot, I was nervous as heck!
Especially on such short notice.
Jenny contacted me only 2 weeks before her wedding,
She was frantic and needed a photographer asap.
I told her I was hadn't done many but I was up for the challenge!

It really was a learning experience but at great one at that.
Jenny is a photographer and was able to give me pointers despite the fact that it was also her wedding day.

I learned that you have to become a Ninja on any couple's special day: you need to be everywhere FAST, you need to SEE everything while trying to remain inconspicuous. I feel I did the best I could I do. Although at times I caught myself saying I really wish I had a second shooter.

What I can tell you for sure is, I saw love that day!

As mushy as it sounds, I did see it.

Jamez and Jenny are absolutely in love with one another.
The way they looked at one another, the way they interacted
together was like something out of movie, only it wasn't some made up fairytale, it was real! I get goosebumps remembering their special day.
I'm not going to lie either, I did shed a couple happy tears that day!

I just hope that I captured the love I witnessed.

Thank you Jenny and Jamez, for giving me the opportunity to share and witness your day.

Chim Chim Cher-ee...

I couldn’t help but hum Mary Poppins tune while taking these pictures of Poppies. Across the world poppies almost universally represent death and sleep, to me they symbolize happiness and youth. Probably mostly due to word transference of Poppy and Poppins.
(I know I'm totally a nerd!)

Here's the Song I was humming to :P

Itsy Bitsy Spider...

Maybe its a Mom thing, but when I see things I often break out my tunes!

Ok ok... Maybe its not a mom thing... maybe I have been doing this my whole life. :P

But in this instance I was working on picture of spider webs (look below :P) and it sure did make me break out my nursery rhyme skills. Kade does really enjoy my voice. I discovered even when I'm sick and snotty and I don't have much a voice he still loves it! Then again he also thinks its funny when I tell him "No!" or "Don't do that!" (which seems a lot these days since he is getting into everything!)

But I'm really straying away from the point of my post....

My Pictures!

Memorial weekend I went on hike with some of my family!

It was quite a journey! I really love being outdoors and I really love taking pictures so just add that with beautiful sun-filled day and what do you get! Heaven! So here are few pictures from my family hike! You'll notice that there are quite bit of Itsy bitsy spider cob webs in the woods too. :P

"My Lilacs brings all the boys to the yard"

Alright... so maybe not Boys but Bees for sure! :D

Here are some pictures of my beautiful spring Lilacs!

(Sorry I'm really late with posting them)

I also had fun trying to arrange them. Do think becoming a Florist is in my future?! ha

Enjoy!

(This is a progression of the lilacs)

(Here are my florist skills in action :P)

Trash the Dress with Moe!

Back in April my best friend, Moe, who got married in late October, wanted some FUN pictures of herself in her wedding dress! Of course, I couldn't say no!

We both have heard and seen photography known as Trash the Dress and wanted to attempt to do this. Basically, Trash the Dress is photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an out-of-place environment. So we spiced up her look and just had fun in different environments!

In many of the examples we found, people actually ruin their dresses. (For example: soaking, burning them, splattering them with paint!) On the other hand, Moe didn't mind a little dirt here and there but she wanted to be able to keep her dress... possibly to hand down to her future daughter. (She is now expecting! And I keep telling her that she is going to have a girl! I'm so excited to be an Auntie!)

It's in the Top 10!

I have to be honest, while researching tulips,
I didn't really find many interesting facts that really struck my fancy.
Which doesn't mean the flower itself isn't interesting!
Because it is! Hence why I photographed it!
I did find out that Tulips are third-most popular flower.

Which made me wonder, what are the top 10 flowers?

So Here are the Top 10:

  • Rose
  • Chrysanthemum
  • Tulip
  • Lily
  • Carnation
  • Gerbera
  • Freesia
  • Cymbidium
  • Alstroemeria
  • Gypsophilia

Rose was a given!

Is your favorite listed?

Lincoln Says:

Here are few my favorite quotes from Abraham Lincoln:

"Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow.

The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."

"I will prepare and some day my chance will come."

"Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. "

I took this picture just fun! Enjoy :D

Galls?

Does any one know what the round brown things are?   I was thinking maybe galls?
But I'm not sure I'm totally sold on that idea. If is galls, I'd love to learn more about them. Fill me in if you know. :)

'The Narcissus's are Nice'

Narcissus's also know as Daffodil's are in full bloom around this time of the year.

So of course I had to break out my camera and take a picture of this yellow beauty!

Although a lot of us are draw to it because its eye popping color.

I'm drawn to flowers not solely for their colors but their elegant shape and form.

This is why I choose to make these pictures black and white.

I believe color can distract us from what is also beautiful.

So, hopefully  you will find this photos as beautiful as I do!

Fun Fact about Narcissus's:

Did you know that ancient Greeks believe that plant originated  Narcissus

Vain youth?   Narcissus died after falling in love with his own reflection in a pool of water.

The Greeks believe a flower was from his remains.

You  must admit he did make a beautiful flower :P

I'm Turning into a Botanist!?

Lately I noticed, I can't stop taking picture of plants, flowers, trees, anything really that is blooming!

I think I might be turning into a Botanist! Because every time I take picture of plant I find interesting,

I head on over the web and learn more about it.

For instance, Forsythia, is native to eastern Asia and its part of the Olive Family! It is also considered to be one the 50 fundamental herbs in Chinese herbology. The forsythia herb is known to help with common colds, flu's, allergies too.

Pretty cool huh? And this is all right in my backyard. :)

I can't wait for more things to start growing and blooming and of course the warmer weather!

Also, to share with you!

Bloomin' Cattails!

The other day I needed gas, so I stop at a Sheetz. While I pulled in I noticed this patch of cattails! Luckily, I had my camera! So instead of pumping gas right away, I ran over and started snapping away! People probably thought I was nuts! Which I guess I can't blame them.

At first when I took these pictures I wasn't quite sure if they were Cattails. I wasn't used to seeing them with all the cotton-like fluff on top. So I did a little research and the fluff is actually seeds which blow away, in hopes that new ones will grow.

Interesting fact:

While researching I found out that some Native Americans actually used this cotton-like fluff for moccasins. Pretty cool huh? I think these cattails could have made quite a few moccasins!

Breaking Benjamin, Flyleaf, & Three Days Grace

These pictures I took a little while back, before the SLR, I could only imagine how they would have turned out if I did have it! I enjoyed the show but I think I enjoyed more messing with my camera. Is that wrong? haha :)

Duckie Day at the Park

On Saturday I took my son to the park. It was actually his first trip to the park since he has been able to walk. He wasn’t used to the ground that wasn’t flat, so he stumble around quite a lot. But because of this he discovered woodchips and dirt! Yep! It went straight into the mouth! Not only did I take a million pictures of him. I took some other “artsy” pictures—what I like to call them. I’m sure there’s a better name for them, like still life, close ups, etc… But I think most people get the gist of what I referring to. :P
I was really drawn to the school bus colored duck bounce. It reminded me of when I was younger. Haven’t they been around forever? So I started snapping pictures and this is what I came up with.

Here are few other pictures I took that day:

Can you tell I had thing for YELLOW that day! :)

King Edward

So I had my camera out and ready to go shoot some photos of the 14inches of snow outside but then the lighting on the cigar box to right of room caught my attention. I'm not exactly sure why I like this picture so much. The lighting? The peaceful and calm feeling I get when looking at it? I just cant put my finger on it.
Also I can't decide if I like in color or black & white! I tend to always have this problem with photos. I love black and white photography! But don't get me wrong I love color too! I just feel black and white image allows objects/people pop out. While normally we might not notice some finer details (and I love the fine details wrinkle, cracks, you name it I love it).

But in this color photo I do love the colors. It has nice warm feeling. So what do you think? Which do you prefer? :)

Baby It's Cold outside.

Just thought I'd share a photo I've recently worked on. I hope everyone is staying warm and cozy. :)
