Thoughts and Musings: Stop. Think. Act. Speak.

I really wish people would: Stop. Think. Act. Speak thoughtfully. I know I have been guilty of not doing this.

While at a restaurant, a waitress may not have been the greatest and wasn't prompt with her service to a customer.

But Stop... The customer doesn't know her story and doesn’t know what she is going through. Maybe she's a single mother with 2 kids and this is her part time job just so her kids can have nice clothes and food on the table. So she is worn out just like your favorite pair of jeans. So before speaking about your slow service, maybe reconsider what you say and speak thoughtfully. Granted she could also be a total fool and is just slacking off, but you as a customer don’t know this for sure. Being thoughtful is always better than rude, right?

The same goes for that waitress.

Think. The waitress doesn't know their customer's story. Yes, maybe they have the finest clothes and buy the most valuable wines. But maybe they are lonely. Maybe they just lost a loved one. Who knows really? Maybe they are a doctor that saves lives every day, yet cries every night for the one he could not save. You don't know. Granted, for all we know this person won their money with their gambling habit.

But regardless, I think we need to speak thoughtfully.

I think we live in a world that often believes what we clearly see is the answer. But we are so much more with layers and layers. So before you jump to judge someone, open your eyes a little bit more. Open your heart just little bit more. We are all human and deserve to be treated with respect and compassion.

You may wonder what inspired me to write this. This is something I've always lived by. Yet, I fail at it too from time to time. Especially in moments were I'm very angry and upset.  But my recent inspiration to share this reminder of my little life motto is that I recently started working a part time job at McDonald's. And wow, the sheer number of people that come in and out of that place is insane. I've only been there few short weeks and I've seen my fair share of not so nice people. Being new I have f-ed up and honestly, because how fast pace that place is, there's just bound to be a lot f-ups. But I'm running off on a tangent here. I won't focus on the bad customers.

Last night in the midst of a crazy dinner rush, I was working the front counter, taking order after order for an hour nonstop.  But we came to a little lull, and I was standing there nervously waiting for all the food to hit the trays. As I was standing there, I felt I should been doing something, anything. Especially since all my coworkers were bustling around grabbing food, making milkshakes, ice cream cones, etc for the counter and drive-thru.

Then a man whose order I just took spoke up (It took me a minute to register his face, that he was indeed the man that just placed an order for a Big Mac meal) , "Don't worry. You are doing just fine. Just breathe and you will get used to this." At that moment, I realized that I was transparent with my nervousness and not knowing what to do.  So I was a little taken back, but at same time I thought it was very kind of him say something. He saw me as person not just a robot taking orders. He took the time and saw my emotion, which so many people gloss over. So thank you, kind man, for reminding me of my motto and your encouragement of the crazy dance floor of McDonald's. I think one day I will figure out the ins and outs of this waltz!

Then something else happened that night. It was nearing the end my shift (11pm). This lady pulls up in the drive thru and I noticed that she had been crying. Her cheeks were all shiny, and I could just feel her sadness. My heart ached for her and honestly, I felt I the urge to cry for her. I asked my one coworker if he noticed, He said, "No, was she crying because we were running late with her meal?!" (Hmm, no. I don't believe so.) I didn't really put this together until I started writing this. But this kind of proves my point: we don't really see sometimes. When it’s time to hand her the food, I didn't know what to say. I was trying to scrounge up some nice words or anything, but I was really at a loss for words. So, I just decided to be nice and smile. I don't know if it touched her, but I hope my little act of niceness helped in some way or another. I hope dearly that her day is better today.

So, if you could just remember we have these interesting back-stories that effect who we are each day. That a smile and kindness really can go a long way. So with that, I hope you all have a good day and that you can let your teeth out for a little fresh air once in a while. ;)

Someday I'll get there...

Mountain Cloud

I was driving home the other day and saw this cloud. I felt I needed to photograph this cloud because it wasn't your typical everyday cloud. It was as big as a mountain, I swear! Such a beauty to see!

29 Going on 30

July 31st marked my 29th birthday. I kinda, slightly freaked out in the inside. Because this means I'll be 30 next year! Crazy, because I don't feel that old or should I say I don't feel that age. Looking back in time, I didn't see my life this way at all. Not that it's a bad life at all. I mean seriously look at my amazing son!

I do wish I was slightly more accomplished in my career aspect. I mean growing up I wanted to be this famous artist or photographer. (And I secretly still do).  Then I look around at so many people my age and all that they have accomplished. They have made a dent in this world. This makes me question my life and if I have made a difference? And if I have really lived so far? Seriously, I want to be that beat-up pick up truck that just screams personality because it really lived. So, this bucket list is to living and reminding myself of my dreams. It is also about motivating myself to become a healthier and happier ME! So I can hit my 30s with the a BANG!

Surprise Pictures!

So I have many rolls of film laying around that I have taken over the years.

I finally decided to develop a roll! I had no idea what was on it. I just know that I used my Seguall Twin Lens Camera. (my favorite-- here's a pic… http://cloud.lomography.com/140/210/42/57ce2ec716fa4f5098f40993341a02126061a3.jpg )

I mailed it off to thedarkroom.com because I don't have my own equipment and I was unable to develop it myself, something I very much love doing! There's just something about the darkroom… its just wonderful! There was a slight problem with it getting there which apparently doesn't happen much. But other than that my experience was great. I'm happy with the surprise images I took.

So take a look! Enjoy!

iphone Photos: Monsters

Here are latest iphone photos and it seems to be monster theme :D

Monster finger puppets!

More monsters! And my attempt to make brownie popsicles.
(They were yummy just not so much looking the way I wanted them to!

Mmmmm. Yum. I heart sprinkles!
And a photo of the lantern lights I got for the deck. They're solar too!

We set up a kiddie pool for Kade one 90° day. He loooooooved it!
Then one rainy overcast day. I was feeling bummed so
I decide to pretend we were at the beach!
(yes the water is blue)

My little monster!!

Kade was laughing at being able to see himself in my iphone!
While in the 2nd photo he was being a little monster by not listening.
But look how innocent he looks!

Bring on the Sunshine

I saw these flowers (not 100% sure what type) in my neighbors yard and I just thought they looked so enchanting in the bright warm sunlight. I look forward to more summer sunshine (and taking more photos of course).

Mixed Pix

These photos are all taken from my iphone. I decided from time to time I will post some on here to share with you! :) Having a iphone sure is convenient when you are shutter bug. So many fun apps as well! They are all random and have no theme to them hence why I titled this posted Mixed Pix's. Enjoy!

Wild flower buds!

A baby bunny found in our backyard.

The adventures of Buddy Buddha.
From time to time in my downtime at work Buddy and I go exploring.

My house plant.

My Mother's day gift from Kade was to play hide n' go seek with his Mama. Only Mama, didn't know we were playing and Mama didn't not know where he was. I had no idea that he could how open doors. This is where I found him. Small heart attack that day. If you notice he totally playing in his socks!

Jenny & Jamez 7/17/2010

Being my first wedding I shot, I was nervous as heck!
Especially on such short notice.
Jenny contacted me only 2 weeks before her wedding,
She was frantic and needed a photographer asap.
I told her I was hadn't done many but I was up for the challenge!

It really was a learning experience but at great one at that.
Jenny is a photographer and was able to give me pointers despite the fact that it was also her wedding day.

I learned that you have to become a Ninja on any couple's special day: you need to be everywhere FAST, you need to SEE everything while trying to remain inconspicuous. I feel I did the best I could I do. Although at times I caught myself saying I really wish I had a second shooter.

What I can tell you for sure is, I saw love that day!

As mushy as it sounds, I did see it.

Jamez and Jenny are absolutely in love with one another.
The way they looked at one another, the way they interacted
together was like something out of movie, only it wasn't some made up fairytale, it was real! I get goosebumps remembering their special day.
I'm not going to lie either, I did shed a couple happy tears that day!

I just hope that I captured the love I witnessed.

Thank you Jenny and Jamez, for giving me the opportunity to share and witness your day.
